Second Round of Series of Experts Fora for the Enhancement of Land Use Planning Guidelines Launched

The Board launched last Tuesday, August 31, 2004 the Second Round of its Series of Experts Forum / Brainstorming Sessions on the Enhancement of the Comprehensive Land Use Planning Guidelines, at the Rembrandt Hotel in Quezon City.

This kickoff forum, which focused on the Presentation of the proposed Analytical Framework and Criteria for Assessment of the existing CLUP guidelines, was facilitated / moderated by the consulting firm Consultants for Comprehensive Environmental Planning or CONCEPINC, headed by Dr. Nathaniel "Dinky" Von Einsiedel.
In attendance were noted environmental planners,from the academe , local governments as well as the private sector led by Dr. Asteya M. Santiago and Dr. Geronimo V. Manahan, former HLURB Commissioner and Board of Environmental Planning Examiner Luis T. Tungpalan, former DENR Undersecretary Elmer Mercado, and some Officers and Directors of the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners headed by National Treasurer Henry L. Yap.
Also present were prominent government officials such as NAPOLCOM Vice Chair LINDA HORNILLA and Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission Executive Director BINGLE
GUTIERREZ.
HLURB Commissioner FRANCISCO L. DAGNALAN opened the program and took the occassion to announce the schedule of the forthcoming additional sectoral experts fora on the various sectoral planning guidelines , to wit :
Tuesday, Sep. 7 - on the Land Use Sector; Wednesday, Sep. 8 - on the Social Sector; Thursday, Sep. 9 - on the Infrastructure and Utilities Sector; Tuesday, Sep. 21 - on the Environment Sector; Wednesday, Sep. 22 - on the Local Administration Sector; and Thursday, Sep. 23 - on the Economic Sector.
The first three sectoral fora will be held at the Sulo Hotel from 8:00 AM to 5:00 pm, while the last three will be back at the Rembrandt Hotel, also at the same times.
It is believed that these fora will result in more participatory contribution from all concerned key actors and stake holders. Those interested to attend are advised to inquire with the Project Monitoring Office (PMO) as slots are limited to 30 persons.
